Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread the batter into the baking dish in an even layer.

Place fresh blackberries over the top of the batter  but don't stir them into the batter.

Sprinkle granulated sugar over the tops of the blackberries.

Bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes. The  batter will cook up around the blackberries. Sprinkle with demerara sugar, and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
