For the Chocolate Pudding Layer:
Use a hand mixer to blend the instant pudding mix and milk according to package instructions.
Ensure that the pudding is completely mixed and smooth.
Carefully use a spatula to smooth it in an even layer over the cream cheese mixture. Allow the pudding to chill for 20-30 minutes.
For the Whipped Topping Layer:
Carefully add a layer of whipped topping over the chocolate pudding.
Sprinkle with chopped walnuts if desired. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Serve chilled as a dessert.
