Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
Slice the bread in half lengthwise and place cut-side up on the baking sheet.
1 French loaf
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, garlic, black pepper, and oregano. Spread the garlic butter generously across both halves of the bread.
½ cup unsalted butter, 4 garlic cloves, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, ¾ teaspoon dried oregano
Top evenly with crumbled feta, then cover with shredded mozzarella.
1 cup crumbled feta cheese, 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the edges are golden brown.
Broil for 1–2 minutes if you want extra bubbly, browned cheese on top. Keep an eye on it so the bread and parchment paper don't burn.
Remove from the oven, slice, and serve warm.
