To Make the Iced Version
Brew the espresso, and if desired let it cool to room temperature.
2 ounces freshly brewed espresso
Add ice to a tall, heat-safe glass then add the white chocolate syrup. Pour in the espresso and top off with milk.
Ice, 2 to 4 tablespoons white chocolate syrup, 6 to 8 ounces milk
Add whipped cream and sprinkle white chocolate shavings and a drizzle of white chocolate sauce on top of the whipped cream.
Notes
I developed this recipe with the thought that 1 shot of espresso = 1 ounce. Adjust the amount of espresso to taste.
Note: this is not going to taste exactly like Starbucks. They use a special blend for their syrup, and it's only available to them.
To make a homemade white chocolate sauce for 1 drink, melt ΒΌ cup of good quality white chocolate into the warm milk or cream until smooth. Then add it to your drink.
Start with less white chocolate syrup and add more only if needed. You can start with 1 tablespoon and go from there so the drink isn't too sweet.
Storage: I don't recommend storing this drink. If you have leftover espresso or coffee, you can store it by pouring it into ice cube trays and freezing it. Use it in place of ice the next time you make an iced coffee drink.
