Chocolate martinis are one of my favorite drinks. Hands down. Whenever we’re at a restaurant and there’s one on the menu, that’s what I order. It’s like a dessert in cocktail form.
This version uses Bailey’s Chocolate liqueur and vodka. It’s smooth, chocolatey, has a tiny hint of Irish cream flavor, and takes no time at all to mix up.
How I make a Bailey’s Chocolate Martini
This cocktail is super simple to make. You only need 4 ingredients (Bailey’s Chocolate, vodka, half and half, and optional simple syrup).
Start by placing the martini glass in the freezer while you grab all of your ingredients.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice then add the Bailey’s, vodka, half and half, and simple syrup if using.
Shake really well for about 10-15 seconds. Strain it into the chilled martini glass, and add any additional garnishes.
Garnish Ideas
There are a few different ways to decorate a martini glass for this drink. My favorite is a simple chocolate syrup drizzle right inside the glass. Take the chilled glass and tilt it slightly. Begin to drizzle the chocolate syrup and slowly spin the glass at the same time.
Another option is to add a cocoa powder rim. This gives the cocktail a bittersweet flavor as you sip. Dip the rim of the glass into a bit of simple syrup then into some cocoa powder.

I almost always add some chocolate shavings to the finished drink. It has enough body so the shavings float on the top to give it a pretty presentation.
If you’re making this martini for a fun celebration or Valentine’s Day, arranging a small chocolate dipped strawberry on the rim of the glass is super cute!
Do I have to use simple syrup?
No. It’s optional. Add it only if you want a sweeter chocolate martini. I like my martinis sweet, so I include it as an optional ingredient. Use as much or as little as you like.
Can I use Godiva chocolate liqueur?
Yes! Godiva chocolate liqueur works well. Crème de cacao also works. They are some of my favorite liqueurs for chocolate martinis!
