Add bacon to a soup pot & cook until crispy. Remove & partially drain.
Season beef with salt & pepper. Add to the pan & brown on all sides.
Add onion & garlic. Cook until soft.
Add carrots & celery. Stir. Sprinkle in the flour & cook 2-3 minutes.
Pour in beer, broth, tomato paste, thyme & marjoram. Stir & add beef.
Simmer covered for 2 hours. Cook uncovered an additional 30-45 min.
Season & serve warm.
