Kim’s Tips:

Tips
  • Use fresh brewed espresso instead of cold brew. You’ll want to let it cool to room temperature before adding it to the other ingredients.
  • To keep the margarita from tasting synthetically sweet, choose unsweetened cold brew.
  • Make the simple syrup ahead of time and place it in the refrigerator to cool.
  • Choose your favorite cold brew! The flavor and strength of the cold brew will come through in the margarita. A stronger coffee will result in a more intense flavor in the drink. For more coffee or espresso flavor, choose a dark or french roast. For a milder flavor, choose a light or blonde roast.
  • Swap the salt rim for a sweet, sugar rim.
  • To make a less sweet espresso margarita, omit the simple syrup.

Storage:

Storage: Our recipe makes enough for 1 drink, so there’s no need to store.

Freezer: If you’d like to make an extra margarita, you can pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze it. Use the margarita ice cubes in future coffee margaritas!

Notes

*The calories listed are an approximation based on the ingredients in the recipe card and a serving size of 1 coffee margarita. Actual calories will vary.

*The prep time does not take into account the time it takes to make the simple syrup. It’s assumed that the simple syrup is already made or purchased.

*For simple syrup: Use a 1:1 ratio of granulated sugar and water. While stirring, heat over low-medium until the sugar dissolves. I usually use 1 cup of sugar + 1 cup of water and save the leftover syrup for other drinks and cocktails.
